As everyone has heard, the Southeast suffered a tragic flood this past week with Nashville taking the majority of the storm. Thankfully, CNN has decided to report live from downtown where the river has caused damage to buildings all the way into 4th avenue.

Please keep residents of Tennessee, Kentucky & Mississippi in your prayers while we rebuild. Many people lost their homes, businesses, and even family members.

That night we put on an acoustic performance in one of the beautiful suites at the hotel. There were around 60 people there, standing room only. I played for about 2 hours and got a great response from those who attended. All things considered, i would call it a successful weekend.!

When you are new artist on the country music scene it takes a little something different to attract new fans, but not so different that they can’t feel what the artist is all about. For South Carolina native Lee Allen, he has found the perfect line to walk between the familiar sounds of today’s country style and those more traditional styles he grew up listening to. With his new single, “Settle Down,” Allen has already started to attract support from radio and it is no surprise as to why. His deep voice combines with a healthy southern drawl that is everything a solid country singer is all about, but the lyrics even sell the song more. The premise of them is simple; there is no time like right now to get crazy and focus on the important aspects of the love you are in. The song sees him wanting to hurry up and settle down with the girl he loves and although people tell them they have time, he figures why not take the leap today instead putting it off until tomorrow. It’s a simple enough concept to follow as we have all felt that same thing when we are swept off of our feet. As the song unfolds we see Allen talking more and more about the crazy things he is feeling like his anticipation aspects of their wedding day such as feeding her cake, watching others trying to catch her bouquet, and praying she says yes. This is a fun, mid-tempo, song that showcases emotions that are easy to relate to and by using his traditional styled voice to wrap the lyrics around the music that has plenty of traditional elements mixed in, Lee Allen is surely going to keep turning heads with this song.

What a day! I came into Ocala, FL last night and got to WTRS this morning thinking it was going to be a normal, fun radio visit. Boy, was I off on that one! I met up with the staff at the station for a few minutes before they put me live on the air. I spent a good 15-20 minutes on the air, and we got to play “Settle Down,” “Forgiving Woman,” and “Love Like That”. Of course, Annie requested “Behind Closed Doors” by Charlie Rich, which Iʼll never say “no” to.

After that, we met up with Michele Chase, the MD at WGNE in Jacksonville and had another great visit. Talk about welcomed. Every city I visit is just as welcoming as the last.

Thanks to all the people that called in to request more songs and for all the kind words. All in all, one of the best days on the tour!
